In his speech Sir Andrew addressed issues of domestic abuse allegations and parental alienation and the need for them to be tackled on the same basis - to have early findings of fact in such cases in order to meet children’s welfare interests. He also charted a course for the future in seeking input from the judiciary on the possibility of Early Intervention, contact guidelines and ‘standing temporary orders’ designed to manage expectations and quicker meet children’s needs. We need something like this because both parents matter and delay in making arrangements is harmful. Such guidance he said needs to come from the judiciary. We hope it does, but it needs to reflects a diverse society where today many parents share responsibilities of caring for children (even infants) as well as providing for them financially.
We will share more details of our very successful conference over the coming days and weeks, but just wanted to get this information to you as soon as possible. Firstly, to give you all a chance to read what Sir Andrew had to say so that we can reflect and secondly because the higher our visibility with this the better is the chance of it getting noticed and covered in the media.
Best wishes and thank you for your ongoing support, FNF
