FNF invited by MoJ to contribute to a review of how courts balance child safety and right to family life

A review launched on 9 November 2020 will consider evidence of how the current approach to decisions on parental access, made in the family courts, is impacting child safety and protecton of victims of abuse and how this is balanced with the right to family life.
The review is expected to report back next year and forms part of the government’s long-term plan, announced in June, to better protect victims in the family courts. It will be guided by an Advisory Group, made up of diverse representatives who will be able to draw upon their expertise of working across the family justice system with victims, children and charities. We welcome the invitation to join the Advisory Group and hope that our voice on it will help with considerations of relevant evidence to ensure that the right balance is struck to protect children from all forms of abuse and to protect their beneficial parental and wider family relationships whenever that is possible.
